Venice Workshop

Interdiscliplinary CeNS/BioSysteM workshop at Venice International University

This workshop brings together young researchers of the Center for NanoScience (CeNS) and the Excellence cluster BioSysteM with experienced scientists from the fields of physics and (bio)chemistry. The talks of the workshop are intended to give the graduate students and post-doctoral researchers of CeNS and BioSysteM an overview of current research topics on nanometer-scale and molecular design.

Venue

The workshop takes place at the Venice International University (VIU) located on the small island San Servolo. The island is connected to the historic center of Venice by boat No. 20. The boat ride from San Zaccaria takes 10 minutes.

Program

The workshop will start on Monday, September 28 at 9.00 am and will end on Thursday, October 1 at 6.00 pm.

A conference App will be available to all participants and speakers, including schedule, abstracts for talks and posters, list of participants, and general information.

Next to the invited talks, all participants are encouraged to present a poster at one of the two poster sessions taking place on Tuesday and Thursday. Please upload the poster abstract in our registration tool Indico using this template (DOCX, 17 KB)

Accommodation 

We have booked rooms for speakers and participants from Sunday (Sept. 27) to Friday morning (Oct 2) in the historic center of Venice.
Single rooms (or double rooms upon request) are available for speakers and PIs of CeNS/BioSysteM. For graduate students, we have reserved twin, triple and quadruple rooms.

Warning: Hotel Booking Scam
In the past, the Venice workshop has been the target of hotel scams. Scammers contact invited speakers, encouraging them to book rooms using fake promotion codes at various hotels close to the conference venue. Please know that CeNS/BioSysteM will NOT be requesting speakers' credit card details to make a room reservation and that any person who claims to do so on our behalf is not authorized to do so.

Group travel from Munich

We have arranged group travel by train from Munich to Venice and back. Participants can book this option when registering for the workshop. The outbound journey (RJ85) departs from Munich Central Station on Sunday, 27 September at 11:23, arriving at Venezia Santa Lucia at 18:25. The return trip (RJ84) leaves Venezia Santa Lucia on Friday, 2 October at 11:35, with arrival in Munich at 18:38.

Registration is open to members and students of CeNS and the Cluster of Excellence BioSysteM.

Please register here by July 20.

The number of places is limited. If registrations exceed the available capacity, the organizers reserve the right to select participants in order to ensure a balanced representation of the different CeNS/BioSysteM groups.
